E.L. "Gene" Bellisario has served as Parish Councilman for District 9 since 2008.

In his capacity as Parish Councilman, Gene currently serves as Chairman of the Parish Finance Committee, a member of the Agenda Review Committee and served as Chairman of the Solid Waste Management Committee.

He is a graduate of Central District Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Point Park College in Pittsburgh.  He moved to St. Tammany Parish in 1984. He retired in the spring of 2007 from McDermott iInternational where he was the Senior Financial Analyst.

Gene served on the Parish Zoning Commission from 1988 to 1995 and the Parish Planing Commission from 1989 to 1995.  He is currently a member of the Appointing Authority for Slidell Memorial Hospital; previously he served as Chairman of the SMH Nominating Committee.  He is the current treasurer of the Slidell Symphony Society.  He is a member of the Military Road Alliance, a current member of Cross Gates Homeowners Association, and a former member of the Willow Wood Homeowners Association.

On the parish level, he is an Advisory Board member of the Community Action Agency; vice president of the St. Tammany Commission of Families; and a member of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce; where he was a graduate of the Chamber's "Leadership Northshore" class of 2009.  Gene is a member of the League of Women Voters; a member of the Northshore Republican Men's Club; and an associate mebmer of the Slidell Republican Women's Club.

Gene is the St. Tammany Parish representative to the United Way New Orleans Coordinating Council.  In St. Tammany he chairs the United Way Community Impact Committee, serves as a member of the Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet Fundraising and "Red Beans and Rice" Cook-Off Committee.

At St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Gene is the leader of the Ushers Ministry and a member of the Men's Club and Kinghts of Columbus.  Working with St. Luke's "Good Samaritan Ministry," Gene serves on the Board of directors, is a member of the Grant-writing Team, and chairs the "Raising the Roof for Charity" event.

Gene and his wife Mary K.have lived in Slidell for 14 years, and have four children and four grandchilden.
