Due to budget constraints and as a result of the razor-thin loss of the two (Jail and Justice Center) sales tax renewals back in April, St. Tammany Parish Government has instituted several initial cost-cutting measures, including a hiring freeze. There will be many projects and programs that will lose funding, as we currently provide $33 million in services, which must now operate with $15million in funding. There are things that we must fund because Louisiana law mandates us to do so, and those items will have to be our first priority. We must also, by law, present a balanced budget for adoption.
Thank you for your interest in working with a great group of dedicated public servants, here at St. Tammany Parish Government.
