Chris Canulette has served as Councilman on the St. Tammany Parish Council since 2000.

A native of Slidell, Canulette represents many of the Slidell neighborhoods in which he grew up. He is a graduate of Slidell High School and has been employed with Motiva Refinery in Norco, LA for 27 years.

Councilman Canulette is a member of a family who has served the public in St. Tammany Parish for many years. His great grandfather owned and operated Canulette Shipping Yard in Bayou Liberty which built boats during World War II. His second cousin, Pat Canulette, served as Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish from 1980 to 1996. Chris decided to run for the District 8 council seat because he felt changes to parish government were imperative and believed he could make a difference under the new Home Rule Charter.

He has served as co-chairman of the Parish Ambulance Quality Assurance Panel since 2001. He has also been an active member with the Slidell Bantam Baseball Association (SBBA), serving either as a commissioner or vice-president for the past 7 years.

Chris is most proud of his successful survey project that involved drainage issues within Cross Gates and Turtle Creek subdivisions. He developed a master plan encompassing eight separate drainage projects that were all completed and alleviated flooding issues within those areas.

Chris has been married to his wife Kim for 25 years and they have three sons. He is the son of Mayo and Julie Canulette and has one brother, Jeff.
