The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) under the direction of the Parish President supervises all departments, offices and agencies of the Parish government under the direction and supervision of the president except the legal department, and performs such other functions as may be directed by the president, including but not limited to maintenance and upkeep of the computer informational system, building maintenance, access television channel, building supervision, and personnel administration.
The Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism shall be responsible for the administration of programs and initiatives related to culture, recreation and/or tourism, such as arts programs, Camp Salmen, I-10 Twin Span Fishing Pier, Tammany Trace and other public recreation venues and programs. The Department shall promote and encourage tourism in St. Tammany Parish. Said duties shall include, but not limited to, any and all actions necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
The Department of Permits and Regulatory is committed to protecting the lives and insuring the safety of the residents and visitors of St. Tammany Parish, preserving the Parish's quality of life and contributing to the Parish's economic development. We accomplish this through adoption, implementation and enforcement of building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing codes; and by working closely with other Parish Departments such as the Department of Engineering, the Department of Environmental Services and the Department of Planning and Zoning, along with parish ordinances and state laws for construction and maintenance of commercial, industrial and residential buildings.
The new Department of Economic Development will promote St. Tammany Parish for the purposes of attracting business, increasing business investment, developing economic opportunity; retaining existing businesses, and developing business recruitment capabilities.
Monitors and inspects sewerage & water systems; licenses & regulates solid waste service providers; oversees litter abatement. Provides water & wastewater services in some areas.
The purpose of the Department of Fire Services is to serve as liaison among the twelve independent fire districts and the St. Tammany Parish leadership. The Department of Fire Services assists emergency operations in planning and preparing for natural and other emergencies.
The Department of Grants serves as the Parish's central administrative unit responsible for securing external resources through grants and contracts as well as accountability to those sources. The department also informs the Parish departments, offices and agencies of all relevant local, state and federal grant programs as well as provides guidance and support to the Parish while ensuring the government's contractual and regulatory obligations.

The Department of Health & Human Services is the liaison between St. Tammany Parish Government and social service agencies and programs. This includes Louisiana Department of Health, area hospitals, nursing homes, American Red Cross, United Way, Volunteers of America, Habitat for Humanity, and many others.
Coordinates and responds to parish Homeland Security / Emergency Operations activities and provide public education to St. Tammany citizens on emergency preparedness.
The Human Resources office administers and coordinates the hiring process of new parish employees, enforcement of personnel policies and provides employee benefits and payroll for over 600 employees.

The Department of Intergovernmental Relations provides administrative and technical support as needed to assist parish government in working cooperatively with other governments and agencies.
The office of Executive Counsel is under the Parish President's Office. The executive counsel serves as legal advisor to the Parish Administration and the Parish President. This office acts as prosecutor of Code Enforcement violations under our Bureau of Administrative Hearings. All public records requests are processed through the Legal Department.
The Department of Public Information shall include the Information Services Agency and the Government Access Channels, and other related communications/information functions as deemed necessary by St. Tammany Parish Government. These offices shall provide such administrative and technical supports as is necessary to service the needs of the Parish of St. Tammany. Said duties shall include, but not be limited to, any and all actions necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
Provides road and drainage services in unincorporated areas of St. Tammany Parish. The department also administers the purchase and maintenance of parish vehicles, Tammany Trace maintenance and the district capital improvements.
